Letter from the President

The board members of the FC Barcelona (Australasia) Supporters club Inc. brings with them a combined experience in excess of 400 years to the club. Their expertise includes all areas Football (Soccer) and Futsal from coaching to competition planning and overseas touring. As the President of the FC Barcelona Fan Club in Australia, I extend to you a warm invitation to join our club and share with all other members what we intend to offer. That is to be part of one of the most successful football clubs in the world, and to play and tour under its banner.

FC Barcelona is a club that was born out of adversity, and the need for the Country of Catalunya to unite its community in order to survive the onslaught of political changes in Spain that took place during, and after the Second World War. At that time even the national identity of Catalunya was nearly destroyed.

FC Barcelona as a club has all of the hallmarks of what I as an Australian admire. FC Barcelona has “guts, determination and the overwhelming desire to win at all costs, while at the same time helping your mates”. The club of FC Barcelona has the UNICEF logo on its playing strip because it gives one million Euros to that organization each year to help children all over the world, not because UNICEF gives the club anything…… This is of course the reverse to the normal.

The motto of the FC Barcelona PENYA or Fan Club is “Mas Que Una Penya” Which translates to “More than just a Fan Club”

We at Barça Australasia have adopted this club philosophy which defines our business structure and our technical structure including coaching and player development. Our fan club in Australia has the additional motto, which is; “if you can dream it, you can do it!!!

We as a fan club intend to make it possible for all kids who would like to play community soccer, furthermore; every year some of our fans will tour as club teams to Barcelona, North America, and New Zealand to compete in soccer tournaments.
